Mentor

Becoming a mentor
Can you give an hour or two of your time each week to help an adult who has moved to, or is thinking of moving to Scotland to feel more confident about living and working here?
The Welcome Package for Migrant Workers is a free online resource for adults coming to live in Scotland. The aim of the resource is not only to inform users about life in Scotland, but also to get them used to listening to native speakers and Scottish accents.

A Welcome Package mentor should be able to give an hour or two a week to meet up with a designated mentee online to ‘chat’ about the sections of the resource that they’ve used. As a mentor you need to be a great listener and be there to link mentees to the services they might need here.

Before becoming a mentor you will need to complete Scottish Government disclosure forms and attend one of the Welcome Package training events at:

Stirling Express by Holiday Inn, 31st March

Saheliya, 125-127 McDonald Road, Edinburgh, 26th April

Inverness Express by Holiday Inn, 6th May

Mentors must attend a free training day, where travel expenses cannot be paid, and then after that mentors can work from any location that suits them.
